We pride ourselves in our wide selection of organic soil amendments, which we have available in large bags and also by the lb. Our goal is to move people away from synthetic chemicals and pesticides and over to a more natural, sustainable way of growing. We believe in biological horticulture, essentially feeding the microbes which then cycle the nutrients for the plants. You can read bit more about our philosophy at www.gardeningwithmicrobes.com

One exciting product we’ve added is our water-only soil mix. This soil mix is a combination of organic nutrients and minerals, as is a complete soil that needs nothing more than light and water to grow healthy plants! You can read more about it by clicking here.

You can view a more complete list of our products by clicking on the product link in the menu at the top of the page.

We stock ballasts, lights, reflectors, organic nutrients and pesticides, as well as a proprietary water-only soil mix.

We specialize in edible and medicinal plants that will do well in our area, including unique plants that you may not have heard of! We also have plants that add a functional element to your landscape such as nitrogen fixers or dynamic accumulators, are excellent pollinators for our native insects, birds, and bees.

For example, the Desert King Fig is hardy to 5 degrees F and can be grown in a container or in the ground. As well as being a unique addition to your yard with it’s exotic-looking leaf structure, it produces a medium-sized fig and a mature plant can yield 10-15 lbs in a season.

Another unique plant is the Honeyberry (Lonicera caerulea var. edulis). Hardy to minus 40F, the Honeyberry produces a berry that is delicious and higher in antioxidants than blueberries. 1/2 day to full sun and 2 varieties that bloom at a similar time are necessary for cross-pollination. Some varieties will reach only 2-3 feet in height and produce 5-10 lbs of berries per plant. They are also disease and pest resistant.

Love blueberries but are renting your house or only have a small space for a container garden? The Top Hat Blueberry is an excellent choice for container gardens. Attractive and compact, it will grow to around 2 feet in height and produce a prolific amount of pea-sized blueberries. In the fall, the leaves will turn a fiery red or orange color before falling off. Can also be grown as a bonsai plant!

Here’s a picture of my back porch container garden. The Top Hat Blueberry is on the right. Also pictured are two columnar apple trees and a Peach Sorbet Blueberry.
